Year 2 News
This half term, Year 2 have been learning about the Great Fire of London. We started our learning by uncovering the history elements of the topic, learning key details and pondering the reasons behind why the Great Fire of London caused so much damage, and the consequences it has had on modern day London. After that, we took the Great Fire of London into our English work and had our own fire in the school woods to help us build new and exciting vocabulary. Finally, we looked at Samuel Pepys’s diary, learnt about the key features of diary writing and then wrote our own diary entry in role as someone who was present at the Great Fire. These were then edited to improve further and published into neat to share with others. Finally, we used our DT learning about wheels and axels to make our very own fire engines!
Year 2 have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Great Fire of London this half term and we as teachers have loved their enthusiasm.
