Early Years

We have had another brilliant week with lots of wet weather play! The

children discovered that rain makes our mud kitchen even more exciting, and that the wind is perfect for blowing bubbles.

The children are welcome to take off their shoes when they are inside, so please ensure that you write their name inside to avoid confusion.

Phonics, reading and writing

This week we will continue with Phase 1 Phonics. This includes lots of listening games and activities, songs, sharing books and vocal sounds.

We have also started to do a Big Write each day. This helps children to practise the correct pencil grip, follow patterns, and begin to see themselves as a writer.

We will be setting Maths challenges for children to enjoy. These may include playing a board game with a friend and moving their counter the right number of steps, finding numbered counters in the tuff tray and putting them in order, or ordering numbers on a washing line.

You might like to play some games like this at home with your child.

Forest Explorers

This week we will be looking for signs of Autumn. Now that the weather has started to turn cold, wet, and windy, we will be collecting woodland treasures to bring back to class.

You might like to go on a welly walk with your child and collect some conkers, acorns, and

coloured leaves.

Reading Workshops

Please remember to sign up to our reading workshops at 2:45 on Tuesday 15th and Thursday 17th October 2019. You will hear all about the Oxford Reading Tree scheme and help your child choose their first reading book.

Please think of us if you are getting rid of doll buggies/pushchairs, they are very popular with the children.
