Understanding of the world
Children make sense of their physical world and their community through opportunities to explore, observe and find out about people, places, technology and the environment.
Children explore, investigate and develop their knowledge, skills and understanding through topics, for example, Under the Sea and Nature Detectives.
We use key questions to enable children to develop an enquiring mind, so that they are able to tackle and solve scientific problems. The children are taught to respect the environment and living things through first hand experiences.
Children use everyday technology and programmable toys to support their learning.
Children find out about past and present events in their own lives, and in those of their families and other people they know.
Our Nature Detectives topic enables children to find out about the place in which they live, and the natural world. They learn about caring for our environment.
Through the Festivals and Celebrations topic children begin to find out about their own cultures and beliefs and those of other people.
